
Deborah May Slutsky, 69, of Frisco, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024. Born on May 25, 1955, in Denison, Texas, to Benjamin and Nora Barnes, Deborah lived a life full of love, adventure, and dedication to her family and community. She grew up in Richardson, Texas, attending JJ Pierce High School, and later became a cherished educator at Big Spring Elementary School, where she taught for over a decade.
Deborah was a woman of many passions. She loved the game of soccer, playing with the Tuff Mothas team in Dallas for several years. Whether enjoying a peaceful camping trip, trying her luck at the casino, or sharing sweet tea with loved ones, she embraced life with joy and enthusiasm. Her family remembers her fondly for her adventurous spirit and her unwavering kindness—especially her grandchildren, who knew she always had a $20 tucked in her back pocket for them.
Deborah was a dedicated member of Waterview Church in Richardson and a part of the Christian Girls group, where her faith was a central part of her life. She was also known for her love of bunko, playing avidly with her close friends.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Slutsky, and their children: Jennifer Slutsky and her spouse Matt Thornton, Kimberly Timms, and Jeffrey Slutsky. She was a loving grandmother to Brandon, Alexandria, Dylin, Cadence, Madison, Aryana, Chance, Emma, and Kira. Deborah is also survived by her siblings, Tommy, Karen, Mike, Yvonne, LaJan; numerous nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and many other cherished relatives and friends.
Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Nora Barnes, whom she loved dearly.
