Linda Butler Smith passed on to embrace her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 7th, 2012 after a brief illness.
Born May 1st, 1955 in Dallas, Texas, Linda's family lived in Alice, Texas and later moved back to the Dallas area. Linda graduated from J.J. Pearce High School in 1973. Linda and her husband Rodney attended Texas Tech University where they met on their first day of classes. They fell in love and were inseparable from then on. They graduated from Texas Tech in 1977 and were married on June 25, 1977 in Dallas. They moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1978. They had two awesome sons, Derrick and Bryan, of whom they are so proud.
Linda was a secretary for a couple of years at Oak Hills Presbyterian Church. After that, she started her teaching career as a social studies teacher, teaching for 29 years at Clark High School, Pearsall Middle School and the last 18 years at Theodore Roosevelt High School. Linda loved to teach, but she loved her students more.
Linda loved to be with family and friends, whether it was at church, school, her Emmaus Reunion Group, Bunko, eating out, holidays, vacations or weekends at Lake LBJ. Linda and Rodney Loved and Adored each other throughout their entire Marriage. She made everyone feel special and loved. Her smile, love of life and hugs were shared with everyone she met and knew. Linda never knew a stranger. She lived her faith and exuded it daily. Linda will be greatly missed by all that knew her until we are with her again.
She is survived by her husband, Rodney L. Smith, her sons: Derrick Smith and Bryan Smith and his wife Nicole, her parents Nancy and Ray Butler, her sisters: Barbara Nance and her husband David, and Debbie Garrett and her husband Bob, as well as 11 nieces and nephews and their families. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/98640982/linda-k-smith
