Larry Alan Luna of Georgetown, Texas, died Monday, October 9, in Georgetown, Texas. He was born in San Antonio, Texas to James and Peggy Luna on March 21, 1955. As a small child he lived in San Antonio and Dallas, Texas. Larry graduated from J.J. Pearce High School in 1973, where he was a star quarterback, and received several offers to play collegiate football. Larry received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1979. At SFA, Larry was a proud member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. After graduation from SFA, Larry started his career with the Maytag company, which evolved into a leadership position with his family’s business—Richardson Appliance.
In 1994 Larry moved to Longview, Texas, where he helped develop a successful communications business serving customers throughout the world. There, he was ultimately promoted to president and CEO of Encompass Communications, LLC. In recent years, he was also instrumental in establishing several other successful companies. He was truly a talented businessman.
Larry was a loyal friend and stayed in touch with most of the friends he made through the years. He was a hard worker, had a special talent for mentoring young men, and serving his family. His family was of utmost importance, and he spent many hours visiting and vacationing with them. He especially enjoyed spending time on the water. Larry received Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1984, and in recent years his life was made rich with God’s Word, serving the local church, and sharing with others God’s love. His death was sudden, and a shock to all who knew him. During his battle with atrial fibrillation and congestive heart failure he never complained or pitied himself. Recently, when asked how he was feeling, he responded by saying, “Either way, I win. If I stay, I get to have more time with my family; if I go, I get to be with the Lord Jesus.”
Larry is survived by his wife, sons, and three grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, brother, nieces, and nephew. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/184182493/larry-alan-luna
