Mike Perry VIEW PROFILE

Michael Thomas Perry, long-time time resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Friday, August 5, at the age of 61. A very proud Texan, he was born in Dallas and was a 1973 graduate of J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson, TX.

Selected as one of the Top 100 Scholars, he attended LSU on full scholarship where he was a founding chapter member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1976. He earned a JD from LSU Law School in 1980 and was honored as a member of the Order of the Coif for being in the top 10% of his law school class. He was also a member of the Louisiana Law Review as well as Mensa International.

Most recently Of Counsel with the Baringer Law Firm, he began his 35 years of practicing law with Gary, Field, Landry and Dornier and later Jones Walker, LLP. Mike was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was an avid LSU Sports enthusiast and passionate about live music, reading, and cooking. Known by many as Coach Perry, he was active in CYO baseball and basketball for many years.

He loved vacationing and hiking in Colorado with his wife, Fran, and was particularly interested in keeping up with anything his sons and granddaughter were doing.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Brooks Perry of Baton Rouge, LA; son, John Stephenson Perry of Atlanta, GA; son and daughter-in-law Brian Thomas Perry and Jacqueline Hodgins Perry of Tampa, FL; granddaughter, Caroline Elizabeth Perry; and nephew Cody Thomas Kincaid, Lindale, TX. He is preceded in death by his father, Wylie Thomas Perry; mother, Marie Stephenson Perry; and sister, Lisa Perry Kincaid.
