Ross Van Horn

Ross D. Van Horn, 70, of Richardson, Texas, passed away on July 2, 2026. He was born July 7, 1955, in Springfield, Missouri to Gale and Barbara Van Horn.


Ross was baptized in 1965 at Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri. He graduated from J.J. Pearce High School in 1973, and went on to graduate fro the University of Texas at Dallas in 1978.

Ross spent 25 years as an employee of Bank of America in their Information Technology department before retiring. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Richardson for 50 years where he faithfully served as a deacon.

Ross was very soft-spoken and a man of strong character. He loved science fiction books and movies. He had a deep love for Irish music and festivals. Above all, Ross loved his family.

He was proceded in death by his parents, Gale and Barbara Van Horn. Ross is survived by his son, Andy; his brother, Larry; two nieces; and several cousins.

Was shocked at the news on July 2nd. I think his birthday was nearly here? Ross and I of course knew each other from band. I remember back in the day. I think I was roommate with he, Barry Smith, and Robert Taylor at a place in Moorehead, Minnesota with the band.That could be off, because my memory is a little fuzzy on details that occurred in 1972.
